Title
[LB024155], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Thomas Alva Edison, March 10th, 1887
Editor's Notes
I annex (?) a letter from the Edison Swan people in re certain English patents which they desire to drop. The particulars of these patents are as follows: ## No. 3231 Issued July 23rd 1881 for Electra Commutator to break spark thus <drawing> ## No 3804 Issued Sept. 1st 1881 For amalgamating Commulator and ends of brushes to prevent spark## No 4552 Issued Oct 18th 1881 Regulating dynamos by increasing or decreasing mass of Yoke thru <drawing below> ## No 4571 Issued Oct 19th 1881 Met him at Central Station to measure whole outflow so as to determine leakage. Dynamos {illegible} says they consider these patents useless and that their being allowed to lapse in England will have no effect upon the same patents in this country or other countries. ## Insull did not wish to reply to attached letter without submitting it to you in accordance with which we await your decision in the matter.
