Title
[LB027249], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Lehigh Valley Railroad Co, Jacob William Lattig, December 3rd, 1888
Editor's Notes
"In reference to the attached, the condensers which you paid $10 for were those made for us by the Edison Machine Works, Schenectady, N.Y. or by J. H. Bunnell, N.Y. City- I am not sure which. The Machine Works made a very good condenser, but we did not buy a sufficient number of them to warrant them in continuing the business. Bunnell's condensers were thoroughly bad, and therefore expensive at any price. Marshall makes an excellent condenser, which we have no hesitation in recommending, and charges us $12 instead of $10. Therefore the bill for reconstructing your condenser is $2 less that the price of a new condenser, the difference just about representing the value of the box. We pay the same, - that is $10 for all condensers which Marshall reconstructs for us." Yours truly, A.O. Tate
