Title
[LB027525], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Eaton and Lewis, Eugene Howard Lewis, December 22nd, 1888
Editor's Notes
"I have not been able to make any real progress in connection with the date of the "apple tree" interview. I have found that the contract for the phonograph buildings was signed about the 18th day of May, and the contractor tells me that they got a good start on the 28th of May, the time between the 18th and 28th having been taken up by the men who were grading the property and preparing it for the builders. If Mr. Randolph is correct in his statement that the walls of the Phonograph Works were up about 2 1/2 feet, it would bring the date somewhere between the 28th of May and the 5th of June. This information is not very accurate."
