Title
[LB028237], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to James Dredge, February 15th, 1889
Editor's Notes
A draft was presented by Mr. O.S. Wiley, for fifty pounds. Letter notes that Wiley is not authorized by TAE to make drafts or obtain money in TAE’s name, unless it is through Tate. The Orange National Bank, which presented the draft, has assured that no money has been advanced in London. Would like to see if Wiley has obtained any money in TAE’s name. Although bank says that no money has been advanced they just would like to make sure. Also notes that "should you find that Mr. Wiley has received the whole or any part of this amount, and if in your judgment the amount so advanced should be paid in order to protect Mr. Edison’s name, the latter wishes you to be good enough to discharge the indebtedness, and draw upon him for the amount so disbursed, when you are sending through your next regular draft."
