Title

[LB028526], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Stevens Institute of Technology, Fred T Gense, March 6th, 1889

Editor's Notes

"In reference to your letter of 4th instant to our Mr. Hammer, I beg to inform you that the latter sailed this morning on the steamer 'Germanic' for London. Your letter did not reach him until yesterday afternoon, and we had not time to communicate with you personally. The writer is under the impression that Mr. Hammer understood from Col. Gouraud that you desired to see him relative to securing a position in connection with Mr. Edison’s exhibit at the Paris Exposition, of which Mr. Hammer has charge. If this impression is correct, I would state that Mr. Edison's arrangements for representation at Paris were completed some time ago, and had you succeeded in seeing Mr. Hammer I don't think you would have obtained your object, as he is only [illeg] over two men with his, the intention being that if additional help is required to secure it in Paris." Yours truly, TAE
