- "I have received your letter of 15th instant, in regard to using chloroform in your junction boxes to prevent explosions. You should place in the bottom of each junction box a three ounce bottle of chloroform, leaving the mouth of the bottle open. This will form in the box a heavy gas which will prevent the ingress of gases from the outside. Chloroform is non-inflammable. We use it in the Laboratory here for extinguishing fires which some times occur on our chemical tables."
