Title
[LB031037], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Richard Nott Dyer, June 24th, 1889
Editor's Notes
"It is possible that during the course of [unclear] events you will some time find it desirable to contradict the claim which the proprietors of the graphophone make to originality in recording sound by cutting the wax with a knife recorder, and I, therefore, send you the following information as proof of your anticipated assertion: ### "See LA NATURE, edited by Tissandier, 1879, page 349, article on Lambrigots phonograph, where a cutting tool is described in connection with storing wax; also Mr. Edison's British Patent No. 1644, of 1878, paragraph 80 of specification filed October 22d, same year.""
