"I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 10th instant, addressed to Mr. Edison, enclosing official receipts for the 4th year's tax on the latter's British patents Nos. 7582 and 7584, which related to the phonoplex telegraph; also assignment which has been executed by Mr. Handford, and which includes eight patents taken out in Mr. Handford's name as communications from Mr. Edison; also British Patents Nos. 3005, of 1881; 1862, of 1862; and 1022, of 1883, all in the name of Thomas John Handford, and relating to Improvements &c. in Electric Railways."
