"Mr. Edison before he went away, told me that he desired to give to John Ott Five Hundred Dollars when he went for his vacation. I find Mr. Edison has left no instructions with Randolph in regard to the matter, and as John wants to go on Monday, I would be glad if you would give him a check for that amount."
