- Editor's Notes
- Mr. Edison received your phonogram in good condition, and at his request I am sending you by this mail, under another cover, copy of our "Inspector's Hand Book for the Phonograph," containing suggestions in regard to the operation of the instrument &c., &c. By following the instructions contained in this little book you will be able to obtain the best results from the phonograph, and perhaps be able to do away with the hard scraping sound of which you complain in your phonogram. ### Referring to your letter of 21st instant addressed to myself, Mr. Edison is at present experimenting with the phonoplex, with the view of improving the system. When he has concluded his experiments I will communicate with you, and I hope then to be able to overcome all the difficulties which you mention. Yours truly, A.O. Tate
