"Some time ago your Mr. Miller drew five notes to the order of Mr. Thomas A. Edison for $5000.00/100 each and payable at the Third National Bank New York and sent same to me and I beg to inform you that I have disposed of same as follows: ### Two of them were dated Dec. 5th 1889 due April 8th 1890 and sent to the German National Bank of Newark to be discounted and the proceeds to be placed to the credit of the Edison Phonograph Works and the remaining three were taken to New York by Mr. Samuel Insull. ### The above was carried out as per instructions from Mr. Insull personally. Yours truly, John F. Randolph P.S. Since writing the above the bank has informed me that the discount is $103.33/ on each note or $206.66/100 on both. JFR"
