Mr. Edison has read your letter No. 88,628 Ger., under date 10th instant, and has instructed me to say in reply that, he regrets very much the delay which has occurred in furnishing the Postal Administration of Germany with a phonograph, which they desire to acquire for their Imperial Postal Museum, and to inform you that he has to-day sent an order to his factory (Edison Phonograph Works), to ship at the earliest possible moment to the Post Office Department at Washington, Office of Foreign Mails, for transmission to the Imperial German Post Office, Berlin, two (2) of the latest type of phonographs, complete, with a supply of the necessary renewal parts, also fifty (50) musical cylinders and one hundred and fifty (150) blank phonograms, all of which he desires to present to the Postal Administration of Germany, of whose interest in his inventions he ha the highest appreciation.##Mr. Edison will be indebted if you will kindly convey to the Germany Postal Authorities his thanks for the catalogue and pamphlet which accompanied your communication under reply.
