Edison Phonograph Works,
Orange, N.J.
Dear Sirs:-
Referring to the attached correspondence in regard to exhibition of the phonograph in Orange, I am not able to name the occasions on which the machine has been exhibited and which are referred to by the North American Phonograph Company; but I am aware that at some Church entertainments a machine has been loaned from the Laboratory. The last one which I recollect was in connection with a Fair held for the benefit of the Methodist Church, in which Mrs. Edison was interested. In that, I believe that Mrs. Edison herself operated the phonograph on the occasion in question, but, of course, without any idea on her part, or on ours, that it would cause any serious interference with the work of the New Jersey Company.
Yours very truly,
AO Tate
