I have only to-day learned that Mr. [Edison?r] is indebted to the St. James club for [certain?] dues, amounting, I understand, to $10.00. Mr. Edison was under the impression, and I myself believed, that several months ago his resignation was presented to your Secretary. I enclose herewith ten dollars to cover the amount of his indebtedness, and would ask you to lay before your Secretary this communication, in which I indicate Mr. Edison's desire to discontinue his membership in the St. James Club."
