Title
[LB035311], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad, N E Smith, December 28th, 1889
Editor's Notes
Our Superintendent has read that part of your letter of 27th instant having reference to the trouble experienced by you with our battery in connection with the phonograph, and says that in all probability the battery failed to work the phonograph very well for the reason that it was not short circuited quite long enough. The battery will run the phonograph for 100 hours, and in using it for the first time it should be short-circuited for about ten minutes. We will see that the oxide plates in the cells which we are now sending you are reduced sufficiently at surface. Yours very truly, A.O. Tate
