To the Representatives of the
CIVIC ADMINISTRATION OF THE CITY OF COMO, ITALY
Dear Sirs:-
I have received through the State Department at Washington, D.C., a communication under date December 11th, 1889, addressed to me by yourselves as representing the Civic Administration of Como, also a silver medal, commemorative of the discovery of the "Pilo."
Your kind message, coming as it does from the birth-place of Alexander Volta, whose contributions to the science of electricity can never be over-estimated, has caused me more gratification than I can express. I appreciate very highly the friendly sentiment which prompted your action in this regard, and beg that you will accept my sincere thanks for the same.
Yours very truly,
Thomas A. Edison
