Dear Sir:-
Will you be kind enough to send me the balance of our samples, if you have them, for there seems to be a great discrepancy between your assays and those of the mint, I may say that one ore I submitted to the letter was reported by them to carry $3.50 per ton; you report the same ore as containing nothing. I would like to have the balance of the samples returned to me, so I can find out why this discrepancy occurs. I knew that Ananias was the father of metallurgical chemistry, but it was not quite so bad as this.
