W. J. Hammer, Esq.,
Temple Court, Beckman St., New York City.
Dear Sir:-
I am informed that yesterday afternoon you came to the Laboratory with some friends, and without asking permission of any one proceeded to show them through the premises. I beg to inform you that upon proper application there will be extended to visitors such privileges as are permitted in this Laboratory, but that no one without first obtaining permission has any right whatever to pass the Gate House. Those who have been connected with Mr. Edison and are, like yourself, in a position to appreciate the importance of adherence to a rule of this nature, should be the very last [illegible text] to infringe it.
Yours very truly,
A. O. Tate
Private Secretary.
