H. Ward Leonard, Esq., Gen’l. Manager,
Light & Power Dep’t., Edison Gen’l. Elec. Co.,
New York City.
Dear Sir:-
In reply to your last letter on the subject of Mr. Edison’s small composite frame armature fan motor, I beg to say that it was not intended for revolving when it worked, but only for being clamped at any suitable position to deliver its breeze, the set screw being attached for that purpose.
We have received a Westinghouse alternating volt meter and ampere meter. This, with the apparatus of the same kind from the National Company, will probably be all that we shall require in that way, but I would suggest that, while not absolutely necessary, it would be very desirable at the present time for the Laboratory to receive samples of opposition companies transformers to test their efficiency. We possess a Westinghouse 20 lighter and 10 lighter, and have access at present to a T.H. 15 lighter. It would be very useful to obtain the loan of one or two transformers in larger sizes, to find out how Mr. Edison’s will compare with them in efficiency.
Yours very truly,
ARTHUR E. KENNELLY.
