August 28, 1891.
Samuel Insull, Esq., 2nd Vice-President, Edison Gen’l. Electric Co.,
New York City.
Dear Sir:-
I desire to report to you that the lamps are still poor. Mr. Edison is putting all his time upon looking up the trouble and hopes soon to find out exactly where it is. I have decided to shut down the factory until Thursday morning of next week, by which time we will know where we are and probably have good carbons to work upon.
Yours very truly,
Francis R. Upton
