“THE DETROIT JOURNAL,”
Detroit, MICH.
Dear Sir:-
Your letter of 9th instant in regard to the phonograph was duly received by Mr. Edison. What you suggest is already an accomplished fact. The latent style of phonograph has an [attachment?] for use in connection with a mailing cylinder. This cylinder is 1” in diameter, & ½” long, and will hold about 400 [words?]. It was specially devised for use in correspondence.
Yours very truly,
A. O. Tate
Private Secretary.
