Dear Sir:-
Your letter of 26th ultimo has been received in the absence of Mr. Edison.
There is already an automatic regulator for use in connection with Edison dynamos. We would not recommend its adaptation, however, because experience has shown that reliance placed upon such machinery is apt to prove disastrous in cases where by inattention it is allowed to get out of order. We think it better policy to keep the pressure within the requisite limits by watchfulness on the part of the responsible attendant.
Yours very truly,
A. O. Tate
Private Secretary.
