Dear Sir:- Mr. Edison has read your letter of 5th instant [illegible text] the copy of Major Eaton’s communication accompanying [illegible text] in regard to the regulator used in connection with our arc light machines. In reply he has instructed me to say that some time ago the matter of providing apparatus for use in our arc light business was receiving his attention, but you informed him that everything connected therewith was satisfactory, and that nothing further was required, in view of which information all are light work progress at the time in the Laboratory was discontinued. In view, however, of the General Company’s present position in the matter, as explained in your letter, Mr. Edison will immediately take the work up again and see what can be done in the way of providing a regulator which can be substituted for the one now in use in the event of an unfavorable decision being rendered in the Chicago suit, which you refer to. Yours very truly, A. O. Tate Private Secretary, M.
