March 14, 1892.
The Aeolian Company,
New York City.
Dear Sir:-
Your letter of 9th instant is at hand. I regret that I have not yet been able to obtain from Mr. Edison the letter which you desire in regard to The Aeolian. He is now absent from Orange and is not expected to return for some time. As a matter of fact Mr. Edison objects to writing letters for use as testimonies, and were it not for that I think he could have been prevailed upon ero this to write the letter in question. He received a great many requests similar to the one preferred by yourselves and he invariably declines to comply with them.
Yours very truly,
A. O. Tate
