Dear Sir:-
Replying to your letter of 9th instant, I beg to inform you that there is no one employed at the Laboratory by the name of Wm. F. Stocker; now have we any record of such a person ever having been employed here. There are numerous Edison factories all over the country; the individual in question may be employed in some one of these.

Replying to your letter of 9th ultimo, Mr. Edison regrets that he is unable to offer you a position in connection with his business; there are no opening at present. He has nothing to do with the appointments at the Chicago Exhibition.
