January 31st 1894 Miss Marion Edison 84 Clinton Avenue Newark N. J Dear Miss Edison As per your Fathers request I enclose you herewith the Deed for the property at Menlo Park which you spoke to him about. I suppose you know all about deeds, but I will give you some information which may be of use but if it is known to you, no harm will be done in sending it to you. You should take this deed to the County Clerk at Newark who will attach a Certificate to it stating that I am a Commissioner of Deeds for the State of New Jersey and who will charge you twenty-five or fifty cents. after this has been done you should take it to New Brunswick to the County Clerks Office and have it put on record. They will keep the deed two or three weeks and copy it in a book which they have for that purpose and they will charge you about two dollars. You can arrange with them to send it to you by mail and leave them a stamped envelope with your address on. or they will give you a receipt which tells when you can call for it All charges in connection with this deed is payable in advance.
