March 15th 1894 E. H. Lewis Esq 44 Broad Street New York Dear Sir:- In reply to your telephone message to Mr Randolph, I beg to say that at the present time the Edison Phonograph Works have no money and I am not, and will not be in a position to help them out for a couple of months and when I can help them I will take up the matter with you. I am sorry Major Eaton has taken the stand about the proxy asked for as it has done me a great injury. Don’t you think that there is more money for your firm in the use of Molasses than Vinegar, Yours truly. Thos A Edison
