July 3rd. 1894.
Department State Board of Assessors,
Trenton, N. J.
Dear Sirs:-
Mr. Edison has received a notice from your Department, dated June 28th., addressed to the “Edison Industrial Works” asking for full information as to the Capital Stock of said Company and other information. Mr. Edison has no recollection of the formation of such a Company. Such a Company was proposed some time ago, and some steps taken towards organization, but nothing definite was concluded. If any papers were filed at Trenton, it was done under a misunderstanding, as this corporation never existed. Will you kindly advise me on what basis this notice has been issued, so that a further investigation can be made.
Yours very truly,
W E Gilmore
