Sept. 5, 1894.
H. W. Seely, Esq.,
Messrs. Dyer & Seely,
#36 Wall st., N. Y.,
Dear sir:-
Mr. Edison has requested me to answer your letter of the 18th of August, as to continuing the defence of the Columbia Phonograph Co., in the suit against that Co., by the Graphophone Company.
Mr. Edison desires me to say that the Receiver of the North American Phonograph Co. has no interest in defending the patents, as the old Edison Phonograph Company stock is not the property of the North American Company. Mr. Edison’s plan is to purchase from the Receiver, the whole outfit in the way of good and bad merchandise. If you still think that you should get into communication with the Receiver, you can do so by addressing John R. Hardin, Rec’r., Prudential Building, Newark, N. J.
Yours very truly,
[W. E. Gilmore?]
