Dec 22nd 1898 S. Bergmann Esq. 578 First Avenue New York Dear Bergmann:- I beg to enclose you herewith two nots for [$3200.00/100?] each dated Dec 22nd and Dec 26th and in place of [illegible] please send your note for like amount and dates. As soon as I receive your note I will have one discounted and send you a check for $5000.00/100 to take up my note which you hold due Jany 3 1899 and this will make you to pay your note due Jany 3 1899 [illegible] the other date comes around I will have your other note for [illegible] and will send you a check for $5000.00 to take up my note due Jany 10, 1899 and this will enable you to pay your note which falls due January 8, 1899. I had to shut down at Ogden for the winter on account of leaving for want of living place, so I shall be able after February to gradually liquidate all the exchanged between us. Yours very truly_
