Dear Sir:--
Answering your letter of January 21, 1899, in which you state that you are considering the purchase of a certain bond and mortgage made by me, dated September 30, 1897, to secure the payment of $13,275.00 and interests, to Thomas A. Edison Jr., I beg to say that I consent, upon the purchase by you of the said bond and mortgage to strike out of the bonds of the words:
“Together with all national, state, country and other [illegible] which may be associated upon the money now loan and hereby secured to be paid, or upon this obligation or the indenture of mortgage given to secure the payment of the same and bearing even date herewith”
So that the obligation on my part will be to pay the said principal sum together with interest at the rate of six per cent, per annum payable monthly.
Further answering your letter I beg to say that no part of the said principal sum of $11,175.00 has been gold and there are no effects or counter claims thereto, and there are no reference in law or equity against the same.
Yours truly
Thomas A. Edison
P.S. Interest has been paid up to Dec 30th 1898,
