"Your letter dated on the "Etruria" came this morning. My cable address:- Linstock, New York – you have already found. ### Blank cheques were sent you some days since. ### I [unclear] the Hanover Bank on cheque book with $5000.00 – to order of N.W. Natl. Bank of Chicago – and will draw cheque to balance your account with them when statement is recd. – as per your instructions. ### I enclose copy of contracts with Bruff. ### His address is: W. Fontaine Bruff. 11, Queen Victoria St., Bank, London. ### Your message saying "can do nothing in Railway Telgh. Matters at present" was received, but I do not understand it as meaning that you do not want these papers. ### I enclose two personal letters that have recently been recd. ### I called on Mr. Lippincott today to [unclear] notice. He is out of town, will return tomorrow morning. I informed Mr. Evans of my object in calling, and will go there again in the morning, when, if I fail to see Mr. Lippincott, I will leave, the notice for him and go afterwards, to assure myself that it has reached him. ### Mr. Edison is still in the West. – There is nothing new."
