Title

[MB097], Letter from Joshua Franklin Bailey to Charles Batchelor, December 4th, 1883

Editor's Notes

[no indication where written from] Just rcd your telegram about the patents. "We all want to think that this point does not hurt us, but you know that English counsel was very much afraid to go into court on it. It seems to me that we must look at the question of union in a large way." Opinion: we'd be stronger with Swan than without him; our position is much weaker than we had believed, and Swan is our only real competition. Even with reduction in royalty, the whole with be worth more after union than without it.
