Title
[MBLB4054], Letter from Charles Batchelor to Edward Hibberd Johnson, December 19th, 1881
Editor's Notes
Gives coal, other op expenses for running 1500 half-lights x hours; compares with gas costs (more than double). "Of course your gas wll be cheaper there, but you will see that we have a good margin for profit in NY and Paris. Never had to use our blower with this load. Have 480 lights in Opera house replacing gas; gives operating figures for these. Misfortune with Robey engine--all the boiler tubes had to be replaced, and am afraid this will injure us.
