Title
[MBSB21588], Letter from Edward Hibberd Johnson to New York Tribune, January 24th, 1881
Editor's Notes
Letter to editor about dangers of overhead electric wires. Wires carrying current for existing arc lights are safety hazard. Urges wisdom of allowing Edison Co to "make a beginning in the work of transferring the wires from over our heads to their natural bed beneath our feet." Permit applied for, although Edison incandescent lighting "requires a current of such exceedingly low tension as to admit of the main wires being taken in the unprotected hands with impunity." City should not demand unreasonably fees.
