"Made a discovery. By using chloride carbon in bulb it is decomposed carbon deposited & chlorine set free. This removes all traces hydrogen. It is the hydrogen that magnifies the carrying. We had one lamp that gave 15:7 per h.p." In Batch's hand: "Given to Chas Batchelor by T. A. Edison Jan 13 1881."
