made large electromagnet and suspended between its poles extensions with silk fiber following metals and compounds. Ivory is directed with the lines of force without nearing either poles. Tried aluminum. Glass. Sulph iron. Lead. Gold. [Looking how these align with lines of force]. p. 94 Filled small oblong glass bulb with sulphuric acid and suspended it and acted same as muriatic acid.
