Title
[NM019AAA], Technical Note, Thomas Alva Edison, January 1884
Editor's Notes
[insulated wire] "Take out following patent: I first wind insulating tape strip on the wire overlapping it, then this is smoothed down and tin or lead or other malleable foil is wound on a strip overlapping. The center of the strip being over the lap of the tape. Over this again is lapped another tape. The center of which is over the lap of the foil. The whole is then preferably braided with cotton but before the braid is put on another layer of foil may be put on & the braid placed over this which has a tendency to make it fire proof especially if the foil is copper foil." Claims. "Kruzi says the insulation of this wire is astonishing." [Case 614 PT022312]
