Aug 8 & 9; EMG -- Philly loop; most successful expt 300 wds/min; very strong solution of acetate of mercury reduced by caustic potash; successful EMG paper must have initial lubrication to prevent false vibration and suggests use of pyro, caustic soda, silica soda, acetate mercury, or metallic mercury; also tried Albany loop; having lever stiffened; trying to impregnate paper with acetate merc -- see 3:908 for another version -- annotate with continuation of expts on 3:744ff, 3:771-773
