- Need to have coils of locomotive magnet in sight so we can put in and cut out resistance. Drop in speed and power is obvious at far end of track, and field loses all its strength when starting up. Ability to add resistance to armature circuit and withdraw from field would take care of problem. 1.2 ohm armature works very strongly.
