- Editor's Notes
- [5 typed pages to Boston writer] Refers to earlier Scribner's article, apparently to update writer who's preparing an articleof some sort. TAE hasn't done anything since with phonograph, aerophone, or megaphone. All TAE's work has been on electric light; it's superior economy now proved. Study Bulletins and Mr. Lungrew's article on gas & electric illumination to learn about recent lighting efforts. Discusses NY district: 2500 16cp lamps connected. Discusses Erwy; now running passenger loco which will reach 30mph with loaded coach. Also freight loco pulling 40 tons of freight at 10-12 mph. Just now finishing self-propelled rail car to carry 30 people 15 mph using 2.5-3 hp. Presently building freigh loco with capacity as ordinary Hudson River steam loco; after testing here will send it to England. Before writing your series you should visit NYC and Menlo.
