"To Fight the Microbe: Thomas A. Edison Believes He Has a Yellow Fever Exterminator", New York Journal, September 27th, 1888
Editor's Notes
TAE believes he has found a way to destroy the yellow fever germ. He is convinced the yellow fever must be transmitted through "animal organism" or "fungous growth." He has experimented with substances that can lower temperatures enough to kill microbes.
Edison claims pouring gasoline over infected region should be sufficient for extermination and effectual check of yellow fever, based on theory that sufficient cold will kill all forms of organic life
