Bibliographic Citation
"Edison Quarrels with His Lawyer", Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette, January 18th, 1889
Editor's Notes
It is reported that the breach between TAE and Tomlinson is a consequence of a "misunderstanding in regard to the contract of sale transferring the phonograph to a stock company."##"The invention seems to be on the verge of becoming a very valuable property." TAE intention was to put them on the market cheaper than the typewriter. So bitter is the division between TAE and Tomlinson that they will not even communicate with each other.
Thomas Edison accuses late legal adviser John C. Tomlinson and electrician/inventor Ezra T. Gilliland of cheating him out of $250,000 in the sale of the phonograph
