"Mr. Edison in conjunction with the various interests [having?] his name have secured a large space in the Paris Exposition of '89 & propose to show working models of Mr Edison's various inventions together with elaborate exhibits illustrating the commercial side of these inventions, process of manufacture & c. For his display the parties interested would like to secure from the Western Union Tel Co on loan a complete Quadruplex outfit including teh apparatus for both endsd of a line with the necessary tables & c. It is proposed that a [----] shall be placed upon the table stating that the apparatus is the property of your Co. & loaned through its courtesy to Mr. Edison. Trusting that the Western Union will see its way clear to furnishing this apparatus which will be returned in perfect order & which will be needed for shipment by Jan 15th '89 & awaiting your reply."
