- Editor's Notes
- Mentions the illness of her grandmother Louise. Mina's Aunt Alice is not feeling well. Roller skating is quite the rage in Canton. Lots of discussion of dancing, cooking, making tea. Discusses a book, "The Children of the Abbey" [by the Irish romantic novelist Regina Maria Roche; it first appeared in 1796]. Mentions a recent appearance by Mark Twain and George Washington Cable, which she found very entertaining [they did speaking tours together]. Lillie is planning on going to the World's Fair in New Orleans. Asks whether Mina has met Lilllie's friend, Miss Fox, who is very bright. Louise and her brother are thinking of going to the Exposition in March. Mentioned: Miss Hall; Dr. Houghton.
