- Editor's Notes
- "I have a letter dated yesterday from Mr. Bergmann, in which he says: 'Johnson tells me that he has received a long letter from you, and that in it you make objections to things that are going on. He has asked me to come down and see the letter, but I don't want to see any letters.'##The only thing that I objected to was the present incorporation of the stock company, there being nothing to float a company on except expectations. Mr. Bergmann seems to think that I have made a general criticism on what he is doing. My letter was marked 'Confidential' to you, and the only effect of showing it to him would be to get him a little further on the raw, so I hope he will neither see that one or this one, as it was only writen you, that knowing the situation you might govern yourself accordingly without getting up any more friction."
