Title

[X154A8BZ], Letter from Josiah Custer Reiff to Uriah Hunt Painter, May 7th, 1889

Editor's Notes

Dear Painter I need some money at this time. I held 500 shares Phonographstock as collateral for advance in 1878 to e.H.J. He waived the claim to the 500 shares in lieu of payment ence it belongs to me. True I have mislaid the certificate, or it has possiblyl been stolen by a part in our office who two years ago proved dishontest. At any rate I have recd no compensation for that 500 shares & E.H.J. tells me he has not recd the proceeds. I surely am therefore entitled to the proceeds of the 500 shares. You never counted them in yours of course. Spencer goes to Washington tonight. Yrs J. C Reiff.
