The notes pertain to briquetting experiments, furnace trials, kiln runs, and other tests using ores from Ogden, New Jersey ("Edison concentrate") and the Dunderland region of Norway. The front cover is labeled "Furnace Book." The book contains 193 numbered pages. Many pages are blank; one page was removed before the book was paginated.
