Description: This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the primary batteries produced by the Edison Manufacturing Co. Many of the items are letters from William S. Logue, sales agent, to William E. Gilmore, vice president and general manager, concerning the use and potential sales of the batteries and the activities of competitors in the field. Many of the documents pertain to competition from, and legal action against, James W. Gladstone, former sales manager for the Edison Manufacturing Co., who began to manufacture similar cells after leaving the company in June 1903.
Approximately 60 percent of the documents have been selected. The items not selected consist of correspondence regarding sales trips and sales expenses, along with perfunctory legal correspondence concerning the suit against Gladstone.
