Description: This folder contains correspondence and other documents by and about Edison's family. Included are letters pertaining to the financial difficulties of Thomas A. Edison, Jr., and William Leslie Edison as well as items concerning Edison's relatives in Ohio and Michigan. There are also letters regarding Thomas A. Edison, Jr.'s treatment for alcoholism at the Cornwall Sanitarium in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, in October 1905. Matilda Heyzer, with whom he had been living since the beginning of the year, accompanied him to the sanitarium, where they registered under the assumed names of Burton and Beatrice Willard. Edison Jr.'s desire to purchase a mushroom farm with his father's financial assistance is also mentioned in some of the letters.
More than 90 percent of the documents have been selected. The documents not selected consist of two bills for cement shipped to Glenmont and a few routine items concerning packages shipped to Edith Edison.

The Harry F. Miller File for 1905 contains an agreement, signed by Thomas A. Edison, Jr., according to which he agreed to assign the $40 weekly allowance he was receiving from his father to Mrs. Willard until his debt to her of $1,500 was paid off.
